Everything in the Resource Editor is built with blocks. Blocks are the building pieces you add to pages to create learning activities, from simple text and images to interactive questions and math tools. Here’s a quick tour of what’s available.

Text blocks

Text blocks are the foundation of any resource. Use them to explain, instruct, and guide.
  • Heading. Add titles and section headings to organize your pages
  • Paragraph. Write explanations, instructions, or any body text
  • Bulleted list. Present items in an unordered list
  • Numbered list. Present steps or ranked items in order
  • Quote. Highlight a quote or key statement

Media blocks

Bring your resources to life with images and video.
  • Image. Add photos, illustrations, or diagrams
  • Video. Embed video to demonstrate, explain, or inspire

Question blocks

Question blocks make your resources interactive. Learners respond directly, and their answers are tracked as part of their progress.

Learning blocks

Learning blocks are interactive visual tools that help learners explore concepts hands-on, with no question required.
  • Clock. An interactive clock for exploring time
  • Fraction. Visual fraction models
  • Angle. Explore and measure angles
  • Number frame. Ten frames and number frames for counting
  • Number line. Interactive number lines for ordering, placement, and rounding
  • Chart. Display data with bar charts, pie charts, and more
  • Pictograph. Represent data with pictures
  • Tally marks. Visual tally mark representations
  • Pixel art. Create pixel art on a grid (great for coordinates and patterns)

Activity blocks

Activity blocks are standalone interactive experiences that go beyond typical questions.
  • Word search. Create word search puzzles for vocabulary practice
  • Symmetry drawing. Draw symmetrical patterns across a line of symmetry

Basic blocks

Utility blocks that help with layout and structure.
  • Data table. Display structured data in a table
  • Divider. Add a visual separator between sections of a page

Mixing and matching

The real power of blocks comes from combining them. A typical resource page might include:
  1. A heading to set the context
  2. A paragraph explaining what to do
  3. An image or learning block to explore
  4. A question block to check understanding
There’s no fixed formula, so build what works for your learners.
New block types are added regularly. If there’s something you’d love to see, let us know!
