A quick reference for the terms you’ll encounter when using Edzo.

A

Activity An interactive learning resource that learners complete. Activities can include questions, media, interactive blocks, and more. One of Edzo’s core resource types. Assignment When you share a resource with learners and ask them to complete it. You can set due dates and track completion from the Progress section. AI Credits Credits used when Edzo’s AI features generate or adapt content. Different plans include different amounts of AI credits.

D

Differentiation levels Three levels that help match content to a learner’s ability:
  • Support: Scaffolded content for learners who need extra help
  • Apply: The default, curriculum-aligned level
  • Extend: Stretch challenges for learners ready to go further

G

Gems Rewards earned by learners for reaching milestones and achievements. Gems are a proxy for progress, helping teachers quantify how learners are tracking at a glance. In the future, learners will be able to spend Gems on in-platform rewards.

J

Journey A structured learning path that connects multiple activities in sequence. Learners progress through steps, with each step building on the last. Created using the Journeys Editor.

L

Learner A child or student who uses Edzo to complete learning activities. Learner accounts are always managed by an adult (teacher, parent, or administrator). Learning space A private environment where you organize learners, assign activities, and track progress. Types include classroom, family, and school spaces.

M

Member An adult (teacher, parent, or administrator) who manages a learning space and supports learners.

Q

Quiz A resource type focused on assessment. Quizzes present questions to learners and track their responses and scores.

R

Remix Creating your own copy of a shared resource so you can customize it. The original stays unchanged. See Remixing resources. Resource Any piece of learning content on Edzo. Resource types include Activities, Tutorials, Journeys, Quizzes, Slides, Videos, Themes, Tutors, and Wordlists.

S

Slides A presentation-style resource type. Slides display content one screen at a time, similar to a slideshow.

T

Theme A collection of visual styles and settings that can be applied to resources, giving them a consistent look and feel. Tutorial A guided, step-by-step resource type that walks learners through a concept or process. Created using the Tutorials Editor. Tutor An AI-powered resource type that provides personalized guidance and feedback to learners.

V

Video A resource type for video-based learning content.

W

Wordlist A resource type for building vocabulary. Wordlists present words with definitions, pronunciation, and practice activities.

X

XP (Experience Points) Points awarded to learners for completing questions and activities. Like Gems, XP is a proxy for progress: it helps learners see how far they’ve come and gives teachers a quick way to gauge engagement. The real goal is the intrinsic motivation that comes from learning breakthroughs, with XP providing a visible measure of that effort along the way.
